The reason why I really love this song is that it covers both parts of someone leaving: the initial feelings and the hopeful moving on. It shows that the girl will continue the vicious cycle, and that it won't change. He even warns the person she left him for about her ways at the end, and how the other guy will end up being like how the ex-boyfriend was previously. He realizes how bad his ex was and how it wasn't worth it to love her ('And for the first time, I've opened my eyes').
